Meet Bear Our Mutt Monday Pet Of The Week
Every week with Deanna and Justin, you can tune into Mutt Monday with Brandywine Valley SPCA and WJBR. Below, you can meet Bear, Our Mutt Monday Pet Of The Week
Bear- Mutt Monday Pet Of The Week
Bear came to the BVSPCA in 2017 as a stray. He was adopted out and lived with his family for a few years until recently. His owners sadly had to surrender him as they fell on hard times. Currently, Bear has been at the shelter for a couple of months. He gets along great with other dogs. We are not sure about his history with cats. He’s a big, happy boy with a great demeanor. If you’re looking for a big lovebug, Bear is your guy!
Brandywine Valley SPCA
BVSPCA was founded in 1929 as Pennsylvania’s first No Kill and open admission shelter. The BVSPCA exists to end animal suffering and to involve the entire community in the welfare and well-being of animals.
Their mission is to put the “human” back in humane animal treatment and advocate on their behalf. Their vision is to be the recognized leader in animal welfare that empowers communities to treat life with respect and dignity.
According to BVSPCA website, the Animal Rescue Center (ARC) opened in January 2019 to help animals needing extra support. At the rescue center is where they help the animals to reach adoption. This state-of-the-art 11,500 square foot facility sits on 13 acres in Georgetown. The facility can house as many as 250 animals at a time and projects to save more than 2,000 animals a year.
Each year, the BVSPCA cares for nearly 19,000 animals. They are finding homes or other placement for at least 95% of the homeless pets that enter their shelter. Through their dedication to maintaining an open door policy for all animals, they are working tirelessly to cultivate a no-kill community.
Mutt Monday with Deanna and Justin In The Morning
Each week, WJBR features the BVSPCA on Deanna and Justin in the Morning. A representative comes in with a “pet of the week” for the Mutt Monday feature.
The success rate of this partnership is close to 100%. On Mutt Monday, the background story of the featured pet is told with information on their age and behavior. The hope is that all the pets will be adopted that week. Most times that is the case. But, sometimes it is not.
With the help of loyal listeners and pet lovers in Delaware, WJBR is able to help spread the word. Share the post or foster if you can.
