New Library Opening In Wilmington
There will be a new library opening in Wilmington in the near future. The state is set to acquire a site soon for the new building.
According to the Delaware Business Times a brand new library will be set to open at 3905 N. Market St. in Wilmington.
The site of the new library is the home to Sport Car Service, and automobile dealerships that caters to Saab and Subarus. The site will be a total of 1.3 acres.
According to the Delaware Business Times the “Construction of the new library will be funded through funds secured in the state’s Fiscal Years 2022-2023 bond bills as well as allocations from the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).” The plan will cost $22 million.
The Wilmington Public Library has welcomed Dolly Parton and KRS-One recently and was award the National Medal for Museum and Library Service. This award is the top honor given to libraries.

The new library location will not replace the library located 3400 N. Market St. located right up the road from the new build site. The current North Wilmington Library is undergoing a $6 million renovation right now.
The Delaware Department of State says the libraries will coexist and will provide complimentary services to Wilmington residents.
