Free Meals For Dover Students
Back to School is here and there is a new program being implemented. The program will help students who may be food insecure. As the new school year gets underway, the focus turns to the students and their well-being. A local woman is helping to provide free meals for Dover students.
Thanks to a very special program, these Dover area students will receive free meals on Saturdays.

Poverty levels are on the rise, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. Research shows that in 2019, 24.4% of Dover residents had an income that fell below the poverty level. This was 53.8% greater than the poverty level across the entire state.
In addition among residents who live alone, 15.9% of high school graduates and 42.8% of non high school graduates live in poverty. The numbers are astounding.

The project is called “Feeding Our Friends Project” and will be starting very soon. Salomon will be renting trucks to bring the food to the Dover High School parking lot. From there, the students can meet to pick up their meal.
Recently, Salomon has partnered with McDonalds to provide the meals. Knowing that the families of these students are also in need, Salomon hopes to extend the project in the near future.
She is also currently working on partnerships with other restaurants to provide more health conscious meals as well. If you work in or own a restaurant that may be interested in being involved, you can directly contact Deborah Salomon by phone at 423-3922.
If you know of any business or organization who may be interested in helping, they can contact Deborah by email at Salomon36@gmail.com.
