Google Maps Now Shows You The “Cleanest” Route
Google Maps have made some updates to their app. One of the latest features is an ego-friendly route option. The feature will take into consideration the road conditions and topography while also looking at traffic in order to give you the route with the lowest carbon emission.
Sometimes this will also be your fastest route, if it is not you’ll be able to see how much less pollution was creating by choosing the eco-route. According to Mashable.com, Google Maps created this new technology with the help of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The technology works through taking estimates of emissions on a vehicle in a region if it took different routes.
The new feature will be available for iOS and Android phones later this year.
