Chris Cornell: Second Covers Album in the Works
Chris Cornell fans got a surprise in December with the release of the covers album, No One Sings Like You Anymore, and it turns out another one is on the way.
Cornell’s widow, Vicky, revealed in a new interview, “There is a volume two. The thing with this volume one, though, that makes it special is that he mastered it, he sequenced it — this is all Chris right from beginning to end. And the other one was mastered, not sequenced, volume two.”
Vicky also added, “Because he was just such a prolific writer, we’re blessed, because he has left us lots of music. Not in completely finished form, but there’s enough to work with, and the Cornell stamp is all over it. So that’s really special. There’s a lot of music.”
Whether this music is more covers or original compositions is not yet known, but from the sounds of it, some of it may end up getting released in the future.
No One Sings Like You Anymore features ten covers including some previously released covers like Cornell’s rendition of Lorraine Ellison’s “Stay With Me Baby,” which was recorded for the HBO series Vinyl. Also included is a new studio recording of the Prince song “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which was popularized by Sinead O’Connor. Lastly, Cornell’s cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “Patience” is also included on the album. The cover topped Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart back in October and was Cornell first number one song as a solo artist.
