Lana Del Rey Is Getting Slammed For Her Post That Calls Out Doja Cat, Beyonce, And More
Lana Del Rey is under fire for recent comments she has made about several women in the music industry. In a lengthy Instagram post she titled “Question for the culture,” she discussed how she’s gotten heat for glamorizing abuse.
She starts out by saying, “Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, fucking, cheating etc. — can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money — or whatever I want — without being crucified or saying that I’m glamorizing abuse??????”
Lana goes on to discuss topics women talk about in songs, how she’s gotten heat for her lyrics over the last ten years, and how she’s constantly gotten “bulls— reviews.” She then explains that she feels she’s been paved the way for women to stop “putting on a happy face.”
At the end of the post, she announced that she has two books of poetry coming out and that her new album will be out on September 5.

Since posting her thoughts, Lana is getting a lot of heat on social media. Most of the anger seems to be about the singers she has called out. See some of the heated tweets below.

Dear Lana it's never been a Lana Del Rey only problem, Beyoncé is still getting hate for every move she does, women are still struggling to fully express themselves. And the crazy thing is most of the hate is coming from women and privileged white feminists. pic.twitter.com/Vya1FJ2ZsY

I don’t know who was giving Lana Del Rey a hard time but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Black women. Girl, sing your little cocaine carols and leave us alone.
