NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 01: Beyonce watches the second round Women's Singles match between Serena Williams of the United States and Vania King of the United States on Day Four of the 2016 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on September 1, 2016 in the Flushing neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City.

Beyonce is now one of the latest celebrities to use their platform to help during the COVID-19 pandemic. The superstar’s BEYGood charity has partnered with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to provide mental health care and other essential services during this global crisis.

Together, BEYGood and Dorsey will provide $6 million in relief funds that will be distributed among various organizations, including UCLA and the National Alliance in Mental Illness, Bread of Life, NAMI (Houston, New Orleans, Detroit, NYC), World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, United Memorial Medical Center, Mathew 25: Ministries, and Dia De La Mujer Latino.

“Communities of color are suffering by epic proportions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many families live in underserved areas with homes that make it harder to practice social distancing. Communities that were already lacking funds for education, health and housing are now faced with alarming infection rates and fatalities. And these communities lack access to testing and equitable healthcare,” BEYGood said in a statement on Thursday (Apr. 23). “These are unprecedented times and it will take our collective efforts to make a difference.”

Last week, during Global Citizen’s One World: Together At Home broadcast the “Freedom” singer praised health care and other essential workers.”To the doctors, the nurses, and other health care workers who are away from their families, taking care of ours, we continue to pray for your safety,” Beyonce said.”To those in the food industry, delivery workers, mail carriers, and sanitation employees, who are working so that we can be safe in our homes, we thank you for your selfless service,” she continued.

The impact of this pandemic is far reaching, and it's going to take each and everyone of us to help make a difference. If one of the organizations we are supporting speaks to your heart, you can join us and contribute by clicking the link in my bio.
