Beyonce is now one of the latest celebrities to use their platform to help during the COVID-19 pandemic. The superstar’s BEYGood charity has partnered with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to provide mental health care and other essential services during this global crisis.
Together, BEYGood and Dorsey will provide $6 million in relief funds that will be distributed among various organizations, including UCLA and the National Alliance in Mental Illness, Bread of Life, NAMI (Houston, New Orleans, Detroit, NYC), World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, United Memorial Medical Center, Mathew 25: Ministries, and Dia De La Mujer Latino.
“Communities of color are suffering by epic proportions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many families live in underserved areas with homes that make it harder to practice social distancing. Communities that were already lacking funds for education, health and housing are now faced with alarming infection rates and fatalities. And these communities lack access to testing and equitable healthcare,” BEYGood said in a statement on Thursday (Apr. 23). “These are unprecedented times and it will take our collective efforts to make a difference.”
