Sofia Vergara will be the next celebrity to take the judges seat on the upcoming season of America’s Got Talent. She will be joined by Heidi Klum, who has previously been part of the show. Also returning are judges Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell;  Terry Crews will return as host. As we reported, a few months ago, rumors were swirling that Vergara was taking meetings with NBC over possible projects since her time on the Modern Family cast was wrapping up.

Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough were on the previous season of America’s Got Talent but were not invited back. Since the announcement, rumors surfaced over the two dealing with a toxic work environment on the set of the show.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, Meredith Ahr, president of NBC Entertainment’s alternative and reality group, said in a statement, “Sofia’s infectious energy and sharp wit will blend perfectly with returning favorites Heidi, Simon, Howie, and Terry. As both a respected actress and successful entrepreneur, she embodies the American dream that is synonymous with AGT’s transformative stage.”

Trish Kinane, president of entertainment programming at AGT, adds to that by saying, “As we head into our milestone 15th season, we are excited to welcome Sofia to the AGT family. We are also delighted at the return of the amazing Heidi Klum and look forward to a lot of fun as these dynamic, accomplished women join Simon, Howie and host, Terry Crews to inspire contestants in a fun-filled and unpredictable series.”
