Waffle House on Valentine’s Day: How the Chain Established Itself as a Romantic Roadside Destination
It’s been 12 years since Waffle House started its tradition of Valentine’s Day dinner. The tradition started in 2008 at a Johns Creek, GA restaurant when the manager noticed that a few regulars came in for Valentine’s dinner year after year. The manager decided to make it a special evening for his diners by adding white tablecloths to the tables and coming up with a special menu.
Now in 2020, nearly 200 Waffle House restaurants have run with the promotion. According to Njeri Boss, the director of public relations for Waffle House, managers are able to decorate as they wish and offer special menu items as long as the tables have white tablecloths.
