Eddie Money Had to Halt Cancer Treatment Due to Pneumonia
Eddie Money went public with his stage 4 esophageal cancer diagnosis last month, and now new details about his treatment have surfaced.
Per TMZ, Money’s cancer treatment was put on hold for about three months due to contracting pneumonia after heart valve surgery in May, however, during that time, his cancer did not worsen. For those three months, Money was hospitalized, but he has since been discharged and is reportedly recovering in a private rehab facility.
Money’s health issues forced him to postpone his remaining 2019 tour dates. His cancer reveal was chronicled for his AXS TV reality show Real Money for an episode set to air on September 12. Money and his wife, Laurie, talk about his diagnosis in the clip below. His cancer diagnosis came after what Eddie thought was going to be a routine check-up at the doctor. Laurie details that Eddie has a tumor at the top of his stomach, and the cancer has also spread to his liver.
“What I don’t want to do is I don’t want to keep a fact of a cancer from everybody…It’s not honest. I want to be honest with everybody,” says Eddie in the clip. “I want people to know that cancer [treatment] has come a long way, and not everybody dies from cancer like they did in the ’50s and the ’60s. Am I going to live a long time? Who knows; it’s in God’s hands. But you know what? I’ll take every day I can get. Every day above ground is a good day.”
