Today is National Relaxation Day. So in honor of this much needed holiday, we’ve compiled a few songs that are proven to lower your blood pressure and help you settle in to the moment.

1. Alan Gogoll – Apricot Eyes

Waking up can be hard, as we all know. But waking up to Alan Gogoll fingerpicking can make things a little easier. Alan Gogoll has gained some fame on Instagram, showing how skilled he is at fingerpicking and what he likes to call, Bell Harmonics. Take a listen to Alan Gogoll’s Apricot Eyes in the video below and be amazed by how well he can really play.

2. In My Room – Beach Boys

Not all their music is surf and sun oriented. The Beach Boys’ In My Room is sure to calm your emotions, and really make you appreciate the privacy of your own room.

3. Coldplay – Strawberry Swing

With a soft and easy voice like Chris Martin’s of Coldplay, it’s hard not to close your eyes and just enjoy the moment. Strawberry Swing has been proven by scientists to be a song that reduces stress and high blood pressure. Remember this song the next time someone eats your lunch out of the company refrigerator. ….Jessie *cough* *cough*

4. John Denver – Sunshine On My Shoulders

Good ol’ John Denver. With his poetry and prayers, rhymes and reason, John Denver’s lyrics really speak in volumes. Here’s one to remember the next time you feel the rays warming your body.

5. The Carpenters – We’ve Only Just Begun

We can always rely on the beautiful duo of Karen and Richard Carpenter to bring us back to our foundation. Here’s We’ve Only Just Begun by The Carpenters.

6. Isley Brothers – Summer Breeze

With one of the best summer songs in history, The Isley Brothers of course make Number 6 on our list, with Summer Breeze being one of the best songs to help you relax. Don’t forget this one when hitting our fabulous Delaware beaches.

7. Simon & Garfunkel – Punky’s Dilemma

The friendship and imagination that lived between Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel produced many hits of course, America, Scarborough Fair, 59th Street Bridge Song, Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall, all great. Although it’s hard to choose just one, and some people might argue Bridge Over Troubled Water would take the cake for their most relaxing piece of music, we are taking a gamble and saying Punky’s Dilemma beats it.

8. The Grateful Dead – Ripple

Attention Deadheads, we know, we know – everyone who claims to like the Grateful Dead only knows Ripple. But let’s face it. It’s a classic.

9. John Mayer – Paper Doll

John Mayer also fits in to this list just like Simon and Garfunkel. It’s hard to choose just one song for this list. Feel free to follow along and prance around like the music video below.

10. James Taylor – Your Smiling Face

Go ahead. Smile. Tell your friends to smile. Here’s James Taylor’s Your Smiling Face.
