Lynyrd Skynyrd Postpone Shows, Gary Rossington Recovering from Surgery
Lynyrd Skynyrd have postponed their August 16 and 17 shows in Las Vegas and Wheatland, Calif. due to guitarist Gary Rossington recovering from heart surgery.
Per a statement on the band’s Facebook page, Rossington “has been experiencing fatigue and other symptoms related to a leaky heart valve. Rossington underwent a procedure on July 31 to repair the valve. To allow him proper time to recover the band must reschedule the upcoming tour dates. Rossington is expected to make a full recovery.”
The Las Vegas gig has been rescheduled for Friday, October 18, while the Wheatland, Calif. show has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 19. All original tickets will be honored for the new dates.
Singer Johnny Van Zant said in a statement about the rescheduled dates, “We all appreciate the well wishes for Gary and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. But he can’t wait to come back and perform at 100% for the fans. We will see you all soon!”
