John Paul Jones: Details on His New Project
John Paul Jones isn’t just celebrating this year honoring the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin; he’s also launching a new project.
Dubbed Sons of Chipotle, Jones has teamed up with Finnish cellist Anssi Karttunen and will be performing at Tokyo’s Pit Inn on September 3 and 5. Tickets go on sale Sunday, July 28 at 10 AM JST at T.Pia.jp. Jones will be featured on the piano during these performances and Karttunen will, obviously, be featured on cello. Both musicians will also utilize various electronics during the shows, as well.
Per Jones’ website, Sons of Chipotle will “cover an uncommonly vast area of the musical map” and are being described as “curious minds, always ready to learn and to discover.” The duo is further described, “When they improvise, borders disappear, they are free to migrate beyond prejudices, across continents. In a world where walls are being built and people are told where they cannot go, Sons of Chipotle want music to be a place of openness.”
