On Sunday night, Cardi B won Album of the Year at the 19th annual BET Awards for her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, making the Bronx rapper the first woman rapper to win in the category.
Not only did Cardi become the first female MC to win the award, but she also was only the second woman overall to win the award.
Cardi was visibly excited when she graced the stage to accept her award. During her acceptance speech at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, the rapper thanked her fans for making her debut album three-times platinum.
Cardi B also thanked everyone who helped her make the album possible including, Chance The Rapper, Kehlani, and YG, among others. “I’m glad that I made an album that your sister, your mother, your grandmother like it, all you b*tches be like aye-yi-ki-ki, thank you very much!” Cardi said.
The 26-year-old also won Female Rapper of the Year, as she was nominated for seven awards, last night. This year, was Cardi’s second time in a row winning in that category.
Cardi B’s BET Awards can now be added to her collection of awards including, seven Billboard Music Awards, her Grammy for Best Rap Album, American Music Awards, and ASCAP awards.
