Last month, Pete Davidson had the bunny ears tattoo behind his ear reworked to make a black heart tattoo.

Photos of the new design surfaced days before the couple made their split public.

While Davidson and Grande had several matching tattoos while they were together, it appears they’re still getting matching tattoos despite being broken up.

Recently, the pop star took to Instagram to show off her reworked black heart tattoo on her ring finger.

Fans of Ariana may recall, the spot had previously been occupied with a “Pete” tattoo.

Immediately following their breakup, Grande was spotted sporting a bandaid over the tattoo.

It’s not clear if the matching tattoo is intentional or just a coincidence, but we do know the meaning behind the black heart — At least for Ariana.

Ariana has been known to use black hearts in her social media postings and when a fan asked what it symbolized, she said it was because she was feeling empty.

It’s possible that Pete had limited options for ways to redesign his bunny ears tattoo, and perhaps, a black heart just seemed fitting.
