Slash Talks New Album, Potential of New GN’R Music
A killer new album. A new tour. Slash, to steal the title of his latest LP, really is Living the Dream.
The album, Slash’s third studio effort featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, is chock full of big radio-ready tunes and some, like “My Antidote,” that touches on some very personal sentiments.
Beasley Media Group’s Meltdown form WRIF asked Slash about the song’s autobiographical nature, and here’s what the guitar icon had to say:
“A little bit, yeah. It’s Myles’ lyric, and he would give you the best sort of analogy of it. But it’s really about taking things to a certain extreme and the effect that it has on you. It’s pretty much geared towards rock and roll and taking that to its furthest extreme, which is something we tend to do, so it’s almost autobiographical…As far as the song is concerned, I don’t know if that’s specifically what it meant for Myles, but that definitely rings true for me. If it weren’t for music and the passion that I have for continuing to do it and the desire to just want to play all of the time, I would’ve not made it. That’s really how I managed to get some clarity, because my lifestyle was becoming a deterrent to being able to produce music effectively.”
Considering Slash is coming off the obscenely successful Guns N’ Roses “Not In This Lifetime” tour, the subject of potentially recording some new GN’R music came up, and fans should be really happy with Slash’s response, but that is one mighty catch:
“I feel pretty confident that something is going to happen, and there’s no deadline on it, so I couldn’t tell you when, but I feel pretty secure in saying we’re going to do something. It’ll happen when it happens. As with any Guns N’ Roses thing, you just sort of [laughs] you can’t put any restraints on time.”
Oh…we fans know that all too well.
