Christmas specials like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, I loved them as a kid. I still do as a big kid. (adult) You see, back when I was little Budman, part of the magic of the season was watching these show with my grandma. As a dude who lives for the holidays, these are the shows that instantly bring back those happy holiday memories.

They’re like wrapping myself in a blanket of nostalgia. The only thing missing is sipping on hot cocoa. Though it’s a little warm here in Southwest Florida for that so I’m good with some peppermint ice cream. Either way, whether you’re trimming the tree, wrapping gifts, or just soaking in the holiday magic, these specials are the perfect vibe for the season.

Now, let’s be clear, I’m not talking about those Hallmark movies where someone moves to a small town and suddenly discovers they’re dating Santa. No shade, but these specials are the REAL deal. They’re the ones you grew up with or discovered and couldn’t stop watching every year. They’re perfect for the kids, and just what you need to feel like a kid again.

  This is the OG holiday mood setter. Charlie Brown just wants to figure out what Christmas really means, and Linus delivers a sermon that hits hard. Plus, that sad little tree? Iconic.

   

• Dr. Seuss: How the Grinch Stole Christmas

  An urban legend says Dr. Seuss hated kids… But he still managed to deliver a banger of a children’s Christmas story.  When watching the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes? Makes you want to hug everyone… even your weird uncle.

   

• FrostyThe Snowman

  Frosty is that friend who’s fun but low-key reckless. He’s out here playing in the snow with kids like there’s no tomorrow, and for him, there kinda isn’t. Still, that “Happy Birthday!” line is unforgettable.

• Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

  This stop-motion classic is one of my favorites. Rudolph proves the underdog can win, even if he’s got a shiny nose. Throw in Hermey the elf who just wants to be a dentist, and you’ve got yourself some holiday gold.

• The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

  Leave it to Marvel to give us a Christmas special that’s weird, hilarious, and surprisingly touching. Drax and Mantis trying to “fix” Christmas for Peter Quill with the most gift ideas ever. It’s a modern classic you have to watch every Christmas.
