Not Having A Home Button Will Forever Change How You Use An iPhone
In case you live under a rock and didn’t see all of the breaking news headlines, the new iPhone’s made their grand debut today.
We now know that the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus come with features such as a new design, a home button (thank god,) better cameras, and wireless charging.
Sounds pretty sweet, right?
Not so fast. It turns out there’s another new iPhone on the block.
The new iPhone is called the iPhone X, and it features super-retna display, an A11 Bionic chip, qi wireless charging, Face ID, a better camera, and more. Notice we didn’t include a home button. That’s because the iPhone X does not have a home button. Gasp!
Part of us wants to be mature and say change can be a good thing, while the other part wants to say, “How dare you Apple for killing our beloved home button.”
Picture this: You pick up your iPhone … what’s the first thing you do? You push the home button, duh!
In fact, the home button has become our go-to button when we want to return to the main menu, switch apps, talk to Siri, etc.
Not to have this functionality with the new iPhone will be like visiting a foreign country. In other words, it looks nice but you don’t know where to go or how to talk to anyone.
Perhaps, there’s a silver lining, after all. According to The Verge, an upward swipe motion has the same capabilities of our beloved home button, minus Touch ID. Touch ID will be replaced with Face ID, which unlocks your phone when you glance at it.
How do you feel about the new iPhone’s?
