Kelly Clarkson Drops Pointed Lyrics on Instagram and Fans Freak Out
Apart from returning to NBC’s singing competition series The Voice for season 21, Kelly Clarkson is busy with working on new music.
Before Clarkson, 39, releases her upcoming 8th studio album, she’s teasing fans with her new holiday-themed single “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You),” which comes out this Thursday, September 23.
Last Thursday, the American Idol alum dropped several lyrics on Instagram, including “Lost at first/ Thinking that I might/ Be cursed/ Winter wonderlands weren’t made for one.”
The next day, the singer-songwriter shared a few more lyrics “just in case” fans wanted to learn them before her new song debuts. “I’ll be hangin’ every light I find in this house/ Playin’ Christmas music so loud/ This year Christmas won’t be quite so blue,” her Instagram post read.
Yesterday she added another lyric post for the upcoming holiday single, “And I’m gonna shop too much and dance in the snow / Drink just enough to let us go / Christmas isn’t canceled just you.”
Following the back-to-back lyric previews, Kelly’s fans were quick to say the song is about her ex husband Brandon Blackstock.
“Here we go! The Divorce album is coming!!!” one person wrote. “Xmas album with some shade! Ayooo,” another added. “This is hidden savage s–t 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” one fan said. “Best breakup album everrrrrr 🎄,” another fan commented.
Clarkson said she’s “written like 60 songs; it is an insane amount of [work] getting it out. I think that’s a blessing in itself. Anytime you go through some life, it’s such an awesome thing to have that outlet, regardless of whether people hear it or not.”
Last summer, Kelly filed for divorce from Blackstock after six years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The two share two young children together, 6-year-old daughter River Rose, and 4-year-old son Remington Alexander.
