Middle Child restaurant began experimenting with serving airline food at Philadelphia International Airport in February when the sandwich shop claimed control of the new Chase Sapphire Lounge menu. Later this year, Middle Child will launch its own dining space inside the airport's Terminal D.

Middle Child anticipates opening the airport restaurant in early fall 2025. The new restaurant space will have seating for approximately 50 guests between its bar and sandwich counter, plus several exclusive items not found on the menus at Middle Child's Center City and Fishtown restaurants. Fans of Middle Child can still order "proven crowd-pleasers," according to a news release shared with the PhillyVoice.

The new Middle Child sandwich shop is part of the airport's "Founded in Philly" effort. Philly's air travel site has begun to bring city restaurants into its terminal. Administered by MarketPlace PHL, which oversees the airport's restaurants and stores, organizers have already supported the launch of Elixir and Chickie, Pete's, and Sabrina's Cafe. The airport will welcome Federal Donuts and the Oyster House later this year.

Middle Child is well-recognized for its morning specialties. Its pastrami, egg, and cheese sandwich won a "Good Morning America" breakfast food competition in 2023. Middle Child also serves a latke-hash brown Frankenstein and a giant pancake at its Fishtown location during the day.

Lunch items on the menu feature a turkey sandwich with cranberry miso mayonnaise and a vegan hoisin eggplant called a "Phoagie."
