A new Raising Cane's will soon serve up their famous chicken at 1151 N. Dupont Highway in Dover. The fall opening creates 100 job openings at the former Boston Market location.
This will be their second location in Delaware, after they opened in Newark last spring. The new spot will be 3,300 square feet, giving plenty of room for customers to enjoy their meals.
Boston Market, which served the community for almost 30 years, closed down in 2023. Their parent company, Engage Brands, cut back operations across the country, keeping only 16 stores running due to money troubles.
The Dover location fits right into the chain's growth plans. While setting up in the capital city, they're also looking at Wilmington and getting ready to open a third spot in Milltown.
Each restaurant needs about 135 workers to run smoothly. Their claim to fame? The chicken tenders soak for 24 hours before getting breaded and fried fresh when customers order.
They keep the menu straightforward but delicious - crispy chicken sandwiches, hot crinkle fries, and buttery Texas toast. Fresh coleslaw and sweet tea complete the menu.
Since opening their first store in Baton Rouge in '96, they've grown to 857 restaurants. You can find them all over the US, in Washington D.C., and even in Guam.
