Gordon Ramsay Spotted in Delco. What Was He Doing There?
Upper Darby’s Wilson’s Secret Sauce barbecue restaurant was closed to the public during the week of March 10. The hive of activity outside it, with various trucks and television equipment, suggested something was up, but what was it?
On Friday, March 22, Wilson’s Secret Sauce reopened for business with a new look to the dining room and a scaled-down menu.
Writing for Philadelphia magazine, Victor Fiorillo found that residents saw — and at least one photographed — celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay of “Kitchen Nightmares” walking down the street, a few steps away from the restaurant.
No one at Wilson’s Secret Sauce confirmed whether Ramsay had been working with the restaurant or whether the business would be featured on a future episode of “Kitchen Nightmares.”
Upper Darby hasn’t been the only place where Ramsay has been spotted in Pennsylvania. A few weeks ago, residents in Reading discovered Ramsay working at Marvel Ranch. The restaurant also isn’t speaking about whether Ramsay has been involved in the business, but Marvel Ranch was closed to the public for a week with production crews outside the restaurant, just as they had been at Wilson’s Secret Sauce.
“In other words, I wouldn’t bet $1 billion that Gordon Ramsay just transformed Wilson’s Secret Sauce. But I’d certainly bet $1,000,” Fiorillo said.
Ramsay was also spotted getting coffee from at the Starbucks at Ursinus College.
“Kitchen Nightmares” aired on FOX from 2007 to 2014. It returned for an eighth season in 2023 and a ninth, which debuted on Jan. 7.
