Labor Day is only a week a way, and while most people may already have their plans locked in, some others might be looking for a last minute idea. If you are in fact still looking for a Labor Day weekend getaway, you might want to consider this.

Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of summer, with the official date set for Sunday, September 22, 2024. But, with school back in session, Labor Day weekend really is a last hurrah before we get back into the grind and prepare for another school year and the holidays.

Lucky for us here in Delaware, we have plenty of options for a weekend getaway right in our own backyard. With so many options down at the beach, why leave home?  Reader’s Digest has just name the best spot for a Labor Day Getaway in Delaware, and it’s none other than Bethany Beach.

Reader’s Digest calls Bethany Beach a small, quiet beach resort with quaint shops, a boardwalk and yummy restaurants. They go on to mention favorites like DiFebo’s, Mango’s and Bluecoast Seafood Grill.

For those making a trip down to Bethany this Labor Day Weekend, you’ll find live entertainment at the Seaside Concert Series, hosted right in town at the Bandstand on the Bethany Boardwalk.

According to the weekend forecast coming from The Weather Channel, it could be a wet Labor Day Weekend in Bethany Beach. The forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday, with showers expected on Sunday and Monday. Well, that stinks! Fingers crossed the report is wrong. And well, it very well could be. We all know meteorologists aren’t always right. 😉

Bethany Beach Has Delaware's Best French Fries

Where can we find Delaware’s Best French Fries?

French fries are a staple at American get togethers all across the country.  There are so many options to choose from with curly fries, crinkle cut, shoestring, steak fries, how are you supposed to choose just one?  We didn’t, we let someone else do it for us.

The folks over at EatThisNotThat.com, with the help of reviews and ratings on YELP, put together a list of the best fries in every state across the United States.  Not a bad gig, huh?

While we do think their choice for Delaware’s best may surprise you, they are pretty good.  Yes, I’ve actually had these fries down at the beach  a couple of years ago.

I know Thrashers in Rehoboth Beach has Delaware’s best French fries according to most people, especially the locals, but maybe give these fries in Bethany Beach a shot next time you’re down at the beach.

Since we know not everyone is from Delaware, we’ve also included Maryland (they got it right, wink, wink!), Pennsylvania and New Jersey for our friends in neighboring states.
