Delaware Fried Chicken Spots Named the Tastiest in the State
Crispy, flavorful fried chicken is certainly a Delaware favorite. That said, it’s not surprising that we have lots of great places to get fried chicken in the Delaware area. Now, two Delaware fried chicken spots have been named the best in the state. Both of these places are known for their incredible chicken, so I’m not shocked to see them named No. 1.
These Delaware Fried Chicken Spots Are the Best in the State
The food experts at Yelp.com have put together a feature on the best places to get fried chicken in the country. “What better way to celebrate summer than with some of the best comfort food around?” they ask. “We’re talking about the mouth-watering, crunchy, and full of flavor… fried chicken.” As for their methodology, this tally consists of the best fried chicken in every state according to “Yelp Elites.” They picked out businesses in the “chicken shop” category on Yelp and looked for places with a lot of five-star Elite reviews. Also, this list only consisted of businesses in the United States, and Yelp included only one business per state where data was available. Each restaurant on the tally was marked open on Yelp on June 25, 2024, and also had a passing health score as of June 25, 2024, which is very important.
So, which Delaware fried chicken spots are the best in the state and two of the best in America? In their main study, Yelp actually didn’t highlight a Delaware spot, but according to their current local listings, the No. 1 best place to get fried chicken in Wilmington is Walt’s Chicken Express. Of the spot, reviewer TU states, “Chicken was so flavorful and juicy. I wonder if they deep fried it in peanut oil? The sides were tasty and complimented the chicken. Took me back to when I used to live in Georgia.” Also, according to Yelp, the No. 1 best fried chicken spot in Newark is New York Fried Chicken. Of the restaurant, one reviewer, Chanel W., notes, “The service is really good. The server and cook went out of there way to make sure I was more than happy.” So, if you’re looking for fried chicken, you have options. I’m glad to see both of these Delaware fried chicken restaurants getting so much love. I wish they had been included in the main list from Yelp, but at least they’re getting some acclaim.
