Jesse Plemons Addresses Ozempic Rumors Amid Weight Loss Journey
Jesse Plemons’ noticeable weight loss in his recent cameo in the recently released Civil War film sparked rumors that he was on Ozempic. Folks online said things like, “Rip Jesse plemons, another character actor victim of ozempic.” And, “Jesse Plemons on Ozempic, Cillian Murphy with Juvaderm. What are we doing.”
However, in a new interview, the 36-year-old refutes the claims.
Jesse Plemons Addresses Ozempic Rumors
“It’s really unfortunate that I decided to get healthy when everyone decided to take Ozempic,” Jesse told the Los Angeles Times in an interview published on Thursday (June 13). “It doesn’t matter, everyone’s going to think I took Ozempic anyways.”
As we’ve reported on several occasions, many stars have turned to Ozempic. Ozempic, or semaglutide, is a type-2 diabetes and known heart disease medication that reduces the risk of major cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack, or death. The medication is also advertised as a weight-loss drug due to its appetite-reducing properties.
As for what sparked his weight loss journey, Plemons shared that he was interested in intermittent fasting that he heard about through several people, “and I just gave it a shot.” He added that he was surprised at “how quickly it was effective.”‘
Then, after filming Civil War with his wife, star Kirsten Dunst, Plemons found himself “in the rhythm” and kept on losing weight. “I was feeling better, and something shifted in my head,” he said. “I just sort of got a handle on it.”
According to John Hopkins Medicine, intermittent fasting is a way to manage your weight and prevent — or even reverse — some forms of disease. With intermittent fasting, you only eat during a specific time. Research shows fasting for a certain number of hours each day or eating just one meal a couple of days a week may have health benefits. After hours without food, the body exhausts its sugar stores and starts burning fat.
Plemons has a substantial list of acting credits, starting with his breakout role as Landry Clarke in the Friday Night Lights series. After that, he landed roles in critically acclaimed works such as Breaking Bad, Fargo, Black Mirror, Judas and the Black Messiah, The Power of the Dog, and Killers of the Flower Moon.
He has been compared to Philip Seymour Hoffman in looks and in acting capabilities. The actor also has an uncanny resemblance to Matt Damon, with his IMDb bio stating his nickname is “Meth Damon.” He even played a younger version of Damon’s character in All the Pretty Horses (2000) and the late Hoffman’s son in The Master (2012).
