Blessed be the fruit, Elisabeth Moss is expecting her first baby. The Handmaid’s Tale star unveiled her baby bump during her Tuesday (January 30) appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Host Jimmy Kimmel jokingly asked if Moss was pregnant or “an incredibly committed method actor?” Moss replied laughing, “A little bit of both!” before adding that she has been “really lucky” through her pregnancy journey so far. She added, “It’s been going really well.” While promoting her upcoming limited series, The Veil, Kimmel gave the star advice on what to bring for her delivery day. Citing Bill Murray’s advice to his own wife, Kimmel suggests bringing Christmas lights or beads to hang, battery-powered candles, music, and a night light.
Who’s The Daddy?
The Mad Men alum, 41, remains very private about her personal life, so it’s not known who the father of her child is as well as her due date. Moss’ pregnancy comes over a decade after her divorce from Saturday Night Live alum, Fred Armisen, who she met in 2009 through her Mad Men co-star, Jon Hamm. The couple had a whirlwind romance and tied the knot one year after they got together. The marriage only lasted eight months, with their divorce finalized in May 2011. Two years after her divorce from Fred, Elisabeth began dating Adam Arkapaw, a cinematographer known for his work on HBO’s True Detective. The couple split in 2015.
Though her love life has been kept a secret, she has been open about her plans of motherhood. Back in 2018, the actress told Marie Claire UK that she likes the “idea of passing on what my mother passed on to me.” Being careful to state that motherhood is not for everybody, even for thinking that of herself, she was thinking it was at the time of her interview. She admitted, “I have no idea how I want to do it, though, or what the plan is.” A few years later, in 2022, Moss said she “definitely” wanted kids “because I’ve been very inspired by the kind of mother my mom is. She did a beautiful thing with me.” She joked that she will give her child to her mother to raise because “she’d do it very well!”
Celebrities Who Welcomed Babies In 2023
In 2023, lots of celebrity couples welcomed babies. Some celebrated the birth of their very first child, while others, added a new bundle of joy to their growing family. In some cases, celebrities who couldn’t have a natural birth have welcomed children via surrogate. No matter how their children were brought into the world, a baby is a blessing. These stars have opened up about their pregnancy journey and celebrated with fans as they welcomed their newborns. There must be something in the celebrity gene pool that makes their babies not look like aliens fresh out of the womb because their newborns are so adorable.
Approximately 134.28 million births will occur across the globe in 2023, according to the United Nation’s medium variant of the population projections. Based on that projection, there should be an average of about 368,000 births per day in 2023. However, birth rates have declined in most states across the US in recent years, as women are having babies at an older age, according to data released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Birth rates among women in their late 30s and early 40s rose in the last decade, and the birth rate among women over 45 also exceeded one birth per 1,000 population for the first time in more than a decade. Meanwhile, the teen birth rate dropped to a record low last year, according to the data.
As for Hollywood couples, there seems to be no shortage of babies being born in 2023. The list keeps growing and so do their families. Since the year isn’t over yet, take a look below to see which celebrities welcomed babies in 2023.
