Mark Wahlberg, Hugh Jackman Use Popular Longevity Trends
Mark Wahlberg attends "The Family Plan" world premiere at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on December 13, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hugh Jackman attends the "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" World Premiere at the Phoenix Theatre on December 14, 2023 in London, England.
In order to remain youthful in Hollywood, celebrities are willing to try anything new. Some of the trends actors like Mark Wahlberg and Hugh Jackman are participating in are ice baths and cold plunges to extend their longevity. Per Today, ice baths temporarily reduce inflammation by constricting blood flow. According to a journal published in Sports Medicine in February 2022, the research found “cold water immersion was an effective recovery tool after high-intensity exercise.”
Researchers also observed positive outcomes for creatine kinase, an enzyme that is released into the bloodstream when muscle cells are damaged after strenuous exercise. The same benefits are seen with a cold plunge, with the Cleveland Clinic adding that exposing your body to frigid water can help improve your focus and sleep. However, before trying an ice bath, it is crucial to make sure it is safe to do beforehand. Always check in with your doctor. Cold plunges can have negative and potentially dangerous effects on people who have medical conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and poor circulation.
Jackman, 55, has done his yearly cold plunge into the ocean to ring in the new year. The Wolverine actor said in a video posted to Instagram, “Happy New Year everyone. I wish you all every blessing for 2024, no matter what may come…including freezing water.” Ryan Reynolds commented on the video, “Dear god don’t do it.” Jackman has been running into freezing waters since January 2021 and February 2023, posting the experiences on his social media accounts.
Back in November, Mark Wahlberg told Men’s Health that he “absolutely” loves the cold plunge. The Family Plan star, 52, goes about three and a half to five minutes after his early morning workouts, calling it “an absolute must.” Wahlberg celebrated Thanksgiving with a cold plunge, stepping outside in just his swimwear and a beanie into his 40-degree tub and submerging himself without even flinching.
Josh Brolin is another actor who loves ice baths. So much so, the Avengers: Endgame actor has made it a family affair. In May 2023, Brolin, 55, and his wife, Kathryn Boyd, 36, raced into an ice bath. A year prior, Brolin shared how he has been getting in shape for Dune: Part Two. He shared his crazy workout regimen on Instagram: “Dune 2 time: Morning Warm up —100’s: 20 squats, 20 dips, 20 Push ups in the sauna — 5 rounds after 225 degrees for 30 mins, followed by a 36 degree cold plunge for 5 mins after 25 circuit training workout for cardio and core without rest. And tons and tons of spice,” he captioned the post.
Most Searched Celebrity Workout Routines of 2023
Celebrities take working out very seriously. Whether it is to get into character for a role or as part of their branding and aesthetic, Hollywood’s elite takes care of their body inside and out. A new study conducted by Mirafit reveals the most searched celebrity workout routines of 2023. Some action stars made the top of the list. And it should come as no surprise as some of the Kardashian-Jenner clan also pique interest for the most-searched routines.
As consumers, there is no shortage of references for which celebrities do which kinds of workouts. Last year, Men’s Journal dove into the most popular celebrity training plans that give lean, perfectly muscular physiques. That list featured all men, but women have another set of standards that are highlighted in other publications, like Women’s Health. Pilates, HIIT workouts, martial arts, and yoga are among the most popular listed workouts for women on top of gym routines. Unlike the rest of us, celebrities have the disposable income to hire physical trainers and personal chefs, have private gyms, and have the time to go to the gym for hours on end every day if they desire to.
What Routine Is Right For You?
For those considering following a celebrity’s workout routine, Marie Claire came up with a list of things to consider to find which routine is right for you:
- Has a qualified fitness professional designed the workout?
- Is it easy to follow?
- Does the workout time fit into your schedule?
- How expensive is it, and is it within budget for you?
- Is it accessible to all fitness levels?
- Is it doable from home, or does it require a gym or studio?
It’s fun to see what routines celebrities do to maintain their physique. But your main focus should be finding a workout that works for you and that you genuinely enjoy as part of a realistic healthy lifestyle. With that in mind, keep scrolling to see which ten celebrities are the most searched for their workout routines in 2023.
