Avelo Airlines Suspends Multiple Routes Out Of Wilmington
Avelo Airlines came into Wilmington (ILG) earlier in 2023,with flights south to Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and now Puerto Rico. There are a plethora of warm weather options for Delawareans to choose from.
Just last week Avelo Airlines announced that they will be suspending at least eight of those direct routes until Spring of 2024. Why?
The suspension will only be seasonal and is to allow for heavy maintenance on their two Boeing 737 airplanes. One plane will still remain in operation to the destinations without suspension, while the other aircraft is taken into maintenance. The affected routes will return in March and April of 2024.
Suspended Avelo Airlines Flight Routes
- Daytona Beach, FL
- Myrtle Beach, SC
- Nashville, TN
- Wilmington, NC
- Savannah, GA/Hilton Head, SC
- Charleston, SC
- Greenville/Spartanburg, SC
- Raleigh/Durham, NC
One route out of Wilmington will be permanently removed due to low demand and that is to Melbourne/Cocoa Beach, as of Saturday, January 6th. It is recommended that those travelers fly to Orlando.
There are still seven remaining routes that won’t be affected by the suspension. Seven of the eight locations are in Florida.
- Orlando
- Fort Myers
- Tampa
- Fort Lauderdale
- Palm Beach
- Sarasota
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
