Britney Spears Shuts Down Drug Usage Rumors: ‘It Breaks My Heart’
Britney Spears is speaking out against rumors of her using crystal meth. A recent Daily Mail story quoted her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, saying, “I fear she’s on meth. I’ve been praying someone would make it public and that she wakes up. It’s terrifying. She is the mother of my boys.”
According to the publication, her father, Jamie Spears, told the reporter Daphne Barak he worries Spears will meet the same fate as Amy Winehouse. The Saturday story continued with more concern from Federline. “Every time the telephone rings, I fear that there will be devastating news. I don’t want the boys to wake up one morning and find their mother has taken an overdose.” Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007. They share sons Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16.

A separate article in The Sun done by the same reporter claimed Federline had staged a “failed intervention” to try and help his ex-wife. According to the article, both of Britney’s sons claim they witnessed someone close to their mother bringing her what looked like drugs before they decided to stop seeing her last summer.
Spears and Federline’s Responses
Following this weekend’s headlines, Spears took to Instagram to respond to the rumors. She wrote in a long caption: “The fact that people are claiming things that are not true is so sad … This may not even be them saying such things because it doesn’t make any sense to me for them to be saying that …” The singer said she never sees her sons and when Preston would visit her at home, he would go into his room and lock the door. Jayden would play the piano and make music with his mom.
“… But the day I told him I wanted to see you guys more, I never saw you again,” she continued, talking to Preston. “It makes me sad because I tried so hard to make things nice for you and it was never good enough.” Spears, 41, continues, “So you guys go behind my back and talk about me … it breaks my heart and the news is so low … l’ve always felt like the news bullies me … It’s sad because everyone sits back as if that’s ok to make up lies to that extent … Why am I told I have to sit back and rise above ??? When they all go so low ??? Hopefully it is just the news being hateful and Kevin nor Preston said any of those things either way I will be fine working out to Throb !!!”
Federline also posted a statement to his Instagram Stories, writing that it saddened his family that the journalists from both outlets have “decided to fabricate lies and publish the heart ache our family has endured, along with the trauma of our minor children in the Daily Mail and The Sun.” He added that the reporters had been allowed “into our home because we trusted them, but that trust was lost and we severed ties back in March for many reasons.” He concluded his statement with: “The lies and attempts to exploit minors is click bait and another repulsive example of where, unfortunately, certain journalism has sunk today.”
