Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry Will Face Off In Spy Thriller
Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry are going to star together for the first time in a new thriller. Jolie and Berry are to star in Warner Bros’ upcoming film titled Maude v Maude, per Deadline.
Exact details are being kept under wraps, but an insider describes the action thriller as a “Bond vs. Bourne” type of story. The publication said the project was under an “intense multi-studio bidding war” before Warner Bros successfully snatched it.
The two legendary actresses are more than familiar with the action and spy genre. Jolie starred in such movies as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), and Salt (2010). Meanwhile, Berry’s credits include Die Another Day (2002), John Wick: Chapter 3 (2019), and the X-Men movies.
Upcoming Work
Jolie, 47, will next portray the American-born Greek soprano Maria Callas in the biopic Maria. It is “based on true accounts, [and] will tell the tumultuous, beautiful, and tragic story of the world’s greatest opera singer, relived and reimagined during her final days in 1970s Paris,” per Deadline. Of the role, Jolie said, “I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy. I will give all I can to meet the challenge.”
Jolie’s latest directorial bout is for the drama Without Blood, her fifth feature as a director. Based on a 2002 novel of the same name, the film follows a girl during wartime and “explores universal truths about war, trauma, memory, and healing.”
Berry, 56, will next be seen in the sci-fi adventure film The Mothership, for which she is also executive producer. The Netflix film, which will be released this year, follows Sara Morse (Berry) one year since her husband mysteriously vanished from their rural farm. When she discovers a strange, extraterrestrial object underneath their home, Sara and her kids embark on a race to find their husband, father, and most importantly – the truth.
