There’s no denying the entire tri-state area and surrounding regions are bleeding green.
The Philadelphia Eagles are top of mind in conversations and all over social media.
Team gear is selling out in stores.
However, the talk of the town at Richland Elementary School in Quakertown, PA is Britain Covey.
Covey, wide receiver and return specialist for the Philadelphia Eagles visited Richland this week.
Needless to say, he made the students’ day.
According to a description on FranklinCovey.com, the book is “One of the most compelling books ever written, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has empowered and inspired readers for over 25 years. It’s also played a part in the transformation of millions of lives across all age groups and professions.”
I was chatting this week with Kimberly Casale, 4th grade teacher at Richland. She said “Brit was an inspiration to our students. He was a genuine authentic model of how the seven habits can be used in life.”

She was kind enough to share with me some thoughts from the students as they reflected on their visit with Britain.
Included is a list of their takeaways and thanks to him:
“When you fumbled the ball and all those people were mean to you on social media, you said that the people in your life will always care about you and that’s all that matters. This reminded me that I can always go to my family or friends whenever I need to.”
“I love how you told us about how you, your family and friends use the 7 Habits to play football and stay calm when playing. And when you feel bad or when others bully you or are rude you can always be grateful for the people who love you. “
“Don’t give up, once I joined a new team and someone said something to me that really hurt my feelings and it made me want to quit cheerleading. So when you told the story about fumble it made me feel better.”
“I thought it was so kind to give your time to us as you prepare for the Super Bowl. I am happy that he came to every room for a photo.”
“Smallest player on the team, doesn’t matter!”
Its clear to me, that Britain made quite an impression on the students at Richland.

First and foremost, GO BIRDS!
It’s no secret that the Philadelphia fan base is one of the most hated in the country. Philadelphia fans have been marked as brutal, crude, uncouth, offensive, and just downright garbage people.
While some have taken things a bit too far, the majority of us enjoy the standard sports trash talk. We enjoy it even more, when the opposing team and fans can take it like a champ and give it right back.
It’s all in good fun.
Personally, I love a bit of smack talk during a game as long as we remain respectful of each other.
That being said, it’s easy to see that this region of fans is die hard.
I’m proud to be a part of a fan base that takes the sport so seriously. I love supporting our Philly teams.
I feel like I’m a part of something bigger than me, when I’m surrounded by Philly fans.
We eat, sleep, breathe and bleed green.
Just like the professional athletes that dedicate their lives to their sport, Philly fans follow certain pre-game rituals.
The thought of not doing things a certain way is enough to send a Philly fan into a frenzy.
I never thought I’d be the kind of person who cares about what coffee mug I drink out of on game-day.
I also never thought I’d be one to turn down an invitation to a friend’s house because it might “jinx the Eagles”. But again, here we are.
Exhibit A:
Football Superstitions Eagles Fans Believe In
Over the years, I’ve been introduced to Philly fans across the country. In my travels, I’ve met fans who were married into, born into it, chose it later in life, etc.
I was surprised to learn that the route they took that led them to being a Philly fan did not matter. They were all participating in some sort of pre-game behavior that they considered to be superstitious or lucky.
We’ve discussed many times on the show, the different superstitions that we believe in.
Deanna and Justin share some of the same thoughts when it comes to behaviors during the football season and on Sundays alone.
According to The Bleacher Report, a lot of NFL players have their own pre-game traditions that have practiced for years.
Take a look at the list we’ve compiled of Football Superstitions Eagles Fans Believe In.
Do you follow any of these superstitious behaviors?
