Rehoboth’s Sea Shell Shop Is Closing Its Doors This Week
A beach town staple will shut down soon as Rehoboth’s Sea Shell Shop is closing its doors this week.
After 43 years the store is locking the front door one last time.
The Sea Shell Shop will permanently close this February 5th.
The location on Rehoboth Avenue will leave just one lone Sea Shell Shop standing. That location is at 19366 Coastal Highway.
The Sea Shell Shop is going out with savings as the entire store is 50% off.
According to WMDT:
Owner Patty Derrick says the free time will allow the opportunity to dive back into some of her passions like art. “The artwork started by accident after my husband passed away. I started doing watercolors and my son encouraged me to put out a few prints and see if they sell. They sold so well,” Derrick said.
In a Facebook post from January 5th, the shop says it will be consildating.
The post also says:
We will be closing soon and be in the process of moving out. Tideline Gallery will feature their same wonderful special gifts and one a kind finds. They now will also include my new watercolor art work made into plaques, puzzles, coasters, magnets, mugs, picture frames, note cards and many more assorted items all with local Rehoboth Beach, Lewes and Dewey Beach scenes. It has become my new unexpected hobby and joy, watercolor painting.
Only Tideline Gallery and our Sea Shell Shop will feature local Rehoboth scenes that I have personally created in watercolor. Our Route One Sea Shell Shop will remain open daily as we began the process of joining two stores into one. Our Mini Golf remains open year round, of course weather permitting. Shell We Bounce is also open Daily.
