The Wilmington Public Library is receiving a lot of recognition lately. Most recently, they were honored as one of America’s most beautiful libraries with a national award. The Institute of Museum and Library Services were considering 30 national finalists for the prestigious award which they give out every year. The Wilmington Library was recognized as one of 6 finalists to receive the award this year.
This national medal is the highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate significant impact in their communities. In addition, the Wilmington Library recently was voted by Fodor’s Travel as the third most beautiful library in the U.S.
The Wilmington Library has been a longstanding staple of the city since incorporated in 1754. Its architecture is something to be admired. Their website attributes their success to it’s staff over the years. After three centuries of service, the library is gaining constant national recognition.
Just a couple months ago, Dolly Parton visited the library for a discussion around her new “Imagination Library”, a special reading and sing-along. With so many community partners, the library is able to offer multiple services to the public. Check their website for everything they have available at https://wilmington.lib.de.us/
