Don’t Check Your Work Email On Vacation
The pandemic showed us just how easy it can be to work from anywhere. That doesn’t necessarily mean we should though. Since people all over the world have started working from home, the lines between when work and free time are more blurred than ever. According to Yahoo.com, The World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus says, “no job is worth the risk of stroke or heart disease.” He also stated that the government, employers, and works need to come together and agree on limits to protect worker’s health.
This advice comes from study findings that show 7450,000 people die each year from the stress of overworking. We often think of taking a day off from work as a perk, when actually it can be essential to both our mental and physical health. During the pandemic, research was conducted by Finland’s Tampere University on the subject. They found that vacation time is essential to our mental health. That vacation time must reach a certain criteria in order to be truly beneficial. Part of the criteria includes actually removing yourself from work communication.
