Pink’s Secret To A Successful Marriage: ‘No Quit Button’
P!nk opened up about her 15-year marriage to former motocross pro, Carey Hart at the Los Angeles premiere of her new Amazon Prime documentary All I Know So Far yesterday.
Extra’s Rachel Lindsay told P!nk that she loved when she talked about her husband in the documentary, more specifically having a man “step up and be there to support you while you’re on the road doing your thing. Can you speak a little bit to that? Because I always say, ‘I couldn’t do what I do without my husband either.”
41-year-old Pink replied, “Yeah, OK, calm down,” as she looks over to her smiling husband and Lindsay laughing, “Calm down. Calm your b—-s. I think it’s huge that Carey has his own very full life. He’s very talented in his own right, in his own field, and whenever it’s time to go he drops everything and comes. And he always has. He has no issue, a lot of people get Carey wrong when they think, ‘Oh, [he’s] this moto-dude, hyper-masculine and tattoos.’ He’s just the most sensitive, supportive guy in the world. He never says ‘no.’ Like, any dream I’ve ever had he’s said, ‘Yes, I’m with you. Whatever you want to do.’ It takes swallowing ego sometimes and it’s beautiful because it allows us to have this crazy, magical adventure. And he gets to be with the kids while I’m on stage and I get jealous sometimes, but… they love me more, so it’s okay.”
When asked about what the key is to sticking together through rough times like the pandemic. 45-year-old Hart said that tour is good prep for COVID because “we’re just stuck with each other for two-and-a-half years — airports and hotels and venues.” Pink also chimed in, “For us, the answer is there’s no quit button. Unless we find one. But right now, we don’t have one. But it’s also couples’ counseling. Learning how to speak the same language, ’cause we don’t! We don’t speak the same language. I speak beautiful Italian and I don’t know what he speaks, but it doesn’t sound that beautiful,” she said jokingly. Carey quipped back through a smile, “She speaks caveman.”
P!nk went on to say about their relationship, “We laugh, we like the same things, and we love being a family. And we both come from families that gave up, and that’s okay. That was their journey, that’s the journey we all were supposed to be on. But for us, we don’t want to do that.”

While chatting with People for a recent cover story, P!nk discussed how her marriage has shifted and strengthened through the years. P!nk and Hart began dating in 2001 (a year after she rose to fame with her debut album) and married in 2006.
P!nk, who shares two children with Hart — 9-year-old daughter Willow and 4-year-old son James said, “We’ve really grown up together. When you first get together, you look at that person as your entire world. One person can’t be your entire world. You have to have your own passions, your own friends, your own time to yourself. I used to be super needy. Now we expect less of each other, and that allows us to give each other more somehow.”
Over the years, P!nk has been honest about the ups and downs in their relationship, like when they separated for nearly a year in 2008. Today, the couple is in a good place thanks to couples’ counseling and because they’ve worked on themselves. “It can be challenging, and there’s good days and there’s bad days. I think it’s an impossible expectation for you to think that you’re going to evolve at exactly the same pace as another person in exactly the same direction. So it takes work to redefine what’s important. I don’t want to break up my family. That’s been my main goal, since I had a broken family. So sometimes you have to let it go. You can’t die on every mountain.”
The All I Know So Far documentary was filmed in 2019 when P!nk was on her Beautiful Trauma World Tour with her family in tow and shows intimate moments with Hart and their two children. The film shows footage from her high-flying performances of her hits, including the breakup songs inspired by her husband. P!nk said that she thinks deep down, “He’s flattered. He has been my muse. He knows what he signed up for, and the hits are just going to keep on coming, as they say.”
