Bindi Irwin Welcomes Her First Child, Names Her In Honor Of Her Father
Bindi Irwin gave birth to her first child, naming her daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell after her late father Steve Irwin.
In addition to honoring Steve, who was killed by a stingray in 2006, Bindi and husband Chandler Powell revealed in an Instagram post that they chose the first name Grace as a tribute to Bindi’s great-grandmother and “relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s.”
The daughter of the “Crocodile Hunter” also celebrated her anniversary with her husband, starting off her caption with, “March 25, 2021. Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter. ❤️ ”
Bindi went into much detail about the reasoning behind their daughter’s name adding, “her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad.”
22-year-old Bindi tied the knot with Powell, a 24-year-old professional wakeboarder, at the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo in a ceremony that was scaled down to only family members because of the coronavirus pandemic, Page Six reports.
Bindi concluded her post by saying, “there are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”
Bindi previously shared an Instagram post while pregnant recreating a photo of Steve and herself kissing her mother’s pregnant belly while she was carrying younger brother Robert.
