Delaware Kayaker Finds 35 Year Old Message in a Bottle in Broadkill River
Over 30 years ago, on August 1st, 1985, Cathi Riddle of Milton, Delaware and her friend Stacey Wells wrote a letter and cast it away in a message in a bottle. Just a couple weeks ago, Brad Wachsmuth found the bottled message while kayaking in Broadkill River. He opened it and noticed it stated, “Please write back when you receive this and tell us about yourself.” So Brad did exactly that.
Being the young children they were at the time, Cathi and Stacey’s letter was simple and innocent.
The two asked to whomever found the message, “Do you have any pets? We have a dog.” and other questions along those lines.
The bottle was first cast into Prime Hook Beach. Johnny B and Jessie Jessie Jordan helped the two connect, getting the story straight from them on the morning show. Listen below to Cathi and Brad’s time capsule story.
