Coke or Pepsi? That question has embroiled a movie theater chain in a vicious soda war. Regal is switching from Coke to Pepsi and Twitter isn’t happy.
Earlier this week, Regal Cinemas announced it would be selling Pepsi products instead of Coke at all of its locations starting spring 2020. This made the Coca-Cola contingent very angry, flooding Twitter with their ire.
After the partnership was announced fans tweeted that this decision was “big mistake” and that someone “should start a petition.” Another person stated, “There is only one drink for the movies @CocaCola.” While someone else tweeted, “I might have to cancel my Regal Unlimited subscription and go back to AMC Theatres.”
Some went as far as to say they would no longer buy from Regal’s Pepsi-only concession. “Guess I’m bringing in my own bottles now,” they tweeted.
So far, Regal seems to feel good about its life choices. Both Regal and Pepsi have been exchanging loving tweets since their team-up went public. Coke has yet to comment on the breakup.
