Beware Of Fentanyl Disguised As Marijuana
Feds Warn of Fentanyl Disguised as Weed
Federal law enforcement officials are warning the pot-smoking public to beware of a new type of fentanyl that’s disguised as marijuana.
An international police bulletin issued to law enforcement agencies all over the country says while the green, leafy product is primarily fentanyl, it’s also tested positive for heroin, tramadol and traces of methamphetamine.
While the drug has so far only turned up in Ohio and Canada, police say it likely won’t be long before it’s available in other areas.
“When you start seeing something anywhere in the U.S., there’s a good chance it’s going to spread across the country,” says Salt Lake City Police Sergeant Brandon Shearer, who adds unsuspecting users run a serious risk of overdosing on the disguised drug.
“You don’t know where it came from, you don’t know how it was made, and you’re really taking a huge personal safety risk by taking those substances in.”
