A college in India is under fire after a picture surfaced of students wearing boxes on their heads went viral. Apparently, the students were wearing the cardboard boxes to prevent them from cheating.
The boxes were cut so that students can only see their desks and exams, CNN explains. The school has received widespread criticism from not only the internet but from government officials in India. The school issued an apology while also revealing that this was an optional trial and that only students with parental approval were involved. Of the 72 students taking midterm exams that day, only 56 took part in the box experiment.
School management head M.B. Sateesh also says, “They said they were comfortable with the trial. The college did not harass any student, it was optional and some students experimented, some did not.” Sateesh also adds that students brought their own boxes to school.
