Popeyes Throws in the Towel: ‘We’re Sold Out’

MIAMI, FL - FEBRUARY 21: A Popeyes restaurant is seen on February 21, 2017 in Miami, Florida. Burger King and Tim Horton's owner Restaurant Brands International has announced plans on buying Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in a deal valued at $1.8 billion. (Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty Images)

Popeyes Chicken had the nation in a frenzy over their new chicken sandwich, but it appears that they couldn’t hang: they have announced that they are entirely out.

The fast-food company went to social media to break the news to fans after weeks of having everyone going crazy over their chicken sandwiches. “Y’all. We love that you love The Sandwich. Unfortunately we’re sold out (for now),” their Twitter post says. In the video,  they do add, “You ate them ALL. They’ll be back soon. For. Good. Pinky swear.”

They also add that the easiest way to know when the sandwich is back is to download their app.

When talking about the demand for the chicken sandwich, a spokesperson for Popeyes told People, “The demand for the new Chicken Sandwich in the first few weeks following launch far exceeded our very optimistic expectations. Popeyes aggressively forecasted demand through the end of September and has already sold through that inventory.”

So since Popeyes ran out of sandwiches and Chick-fil-A didn’t, does that mean Chick-fil-A won the #ChickenWars competition?
