NYC Blackout: Photos/Videos from Power Outage
New York City was hit by a blackout this evening affecting some of the city’s high-traffic areas, including Times Square, Broadway and Rockefeller Center.
NBC New York, CBS New York and The Associated Press are reporting that a transformer fire has caused the blackout, which also affected subway lines. Coincidentally, this blackout happens to fall on the anniversary of the NYC’s 1977 blackout.
Below are various photos and video captured and shared via Twitter from those currently in NYC.

Broadway Theater-goers were affected with some shows coming to an abrupt end. Those in attendance were told to evacuate the theaters. Some productions, like the casts of Hadestown and Waitress, took to the streets to entertain patrons.
