Van Halen Tour: Michael Anthony Says He’s Not Involved
Van Halen still might be planning a big tour this summer, but it won’t be the rumored reunion that would include former bassist Michael Anthony.
Anthony shared the photo below along with the caption, “A little R&R in the motorhome with the family before the start of The Circle tour with @Sammy-Hagar, @jasonbonham, and@Vic Johnson!! #lovethemotorhome #thecircle#readytorock.” A fan commented, “Thought The Circle was on hold because of VH tour?” Anthony replied, “VH tour not gonna happen,” and then further clarified in the comments, “…no VH reunion that I’m involved with.”
Rumblings of a Van Halen tour/reunion first began thanks to an interview David Lee Roth gave to Vulture in December 2018. Diamond Dave was quoted as saying, “…You know, next time my rock band will be playing the same place that the Yankees play.” When pressed for more details on playing Yankee Stadium, DLR initially said he “can’t say,” but he ended up stating, “Well, I don’t know how far this privacy actually goes. But the band is solvent. And I can say that I contacted colleagues about being part of the show — Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Jason Aldean, the Foo Fighters, [Eric] Church, and [Chris] Stapleton. And they all said that, if everything happens, they would certainly be involved.”
Whether this was all talk is yet to be determined, but hopefully, if something is happening, Van Halen will spill the details to fans soon.
