Nobody is ready for this dark depiction of Rudyard Kipling‘s classic, directed by Andy Serkis.
According to NME, the characters including Serkis himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris, and Christian Bale. Talk about a loaded cast!
Showing Mowgli and Bagheera in captivity, you hear the panther tell him that he thought he could raise him in the jungle, but that he was very wrong. He still will be running from Shere Khan, as well as Kaa, but the real enemy is the dangers of man, and the fact that Mowgli is a special being, not human, nor anmial.
Andy Serkis talks about wanting to stick to the tone of the book, and is a very dark depiction, not to mention the fact that the animals are not singing and dancing in this version. Serkis notes in the video below that after working on Gollum for ‘Lord of the Rings’ and Caesar in ‘Planet of the Apes,’ this was his next desire, was to work on an adaptation of ‘The Jungle Book.’
Mowgli will be released on October 19.
