Daria Morgendorffer was first introduced as a recurring character on Beavis and Butt-Head. However, this sardonic teen was meant for bigger things and would star in a spin-off series aptly named Daria.

The series ran for five seasons from 1997-2002 on MTV, which also included two TV movies. The premiere episode mentions how Daria and her family moved from Highland to Lawndale and introduced viewers to her family. Her parents, Helen and Jake, are hippies-turned-yuppies. Helen works as a corporate attorney, while Jake is a seemingly always-struggling marketing consultant.

And then there’s her younger sister, Quinn, who is the exact opposite of Daria in every conceivable way. Quinn is bubbly, popular and obsessed with fashion.

Daria quickly finds a best friend at Lawndale High School in the form of another outcast Jane Lane. Jane is an aspiring artist that shares Daria’s dark sense of humor. While the term wasn’t around during the show’s initial run, Daria and Jane are friendship goals. Despite her cynical ways, Daria isn’t immune to crushes. Throughout the series, she struggles with her feelings and awkwardness around Jane’s older brother, Trent, an aspiring rock star and lead singer of the band Mystik Spiral.

There are plenty of other wonderful recurring characters found at Lawndale High, like jock and cheerleader sweethearts Kevin and Brittney and the brilliant Jodie Landon. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention key facility members like the chipper Timothy O’Neill, the always-angry Anthony DeMartino and egomaniacal Principal Angela Li.

While Daria has been off the air for over two decades, it’s currently streaming on Paramount+. This has allowed the show to reach a new audience. As a result, there have been more merch opportunities for the show in recent years. Here are ten items fans of the animated show will love.

  • Jane Camera T-Shirt

One of the best episodes of Daria was “Monster” from season two. In the episode, Daria and Jane follow Quinn around with a video camera for a school project. (There’s a hilarious scene about the pores on her nose that’s incredible.) Anyhoo, this shirt of Jane holding a camera is a reference to that episode, so if you love that episode and Jane, you have got to pick this shirt up.

  • Daria Gym Class Pin

The opening credits of Daria were just perfection. Perhaps the best part was her unenthusiastically taking part in a volleyball game in gym class. Now, that whole vibe has been replicated in this outstanding pin.
