WJBR Business Office: will be closed for prize pick up November 21st-November 27th

On May 20th and 21st, the Skating Club of Wilmington will play host to the Ron Ludington Tribute Celebration.   The 1960 Olympic Pairs Bronze Medalist will be honored by his peers and his Olympic Athletes representative of 40 years of Olympic Skaters!

This fundraiser is to launch the Ron Ludington Skaters Fund, which will ensure future generations of skaters by funding their training and coaching expenses.  Donations can be made here.

The purpose of the Ron Ludington Skaters Fund is to develop the growth of Pair coaching and Pairs skaters, who are also members of the U.S. Figure Skating Association, aiding them in the betterment as a team from juvenile level on up.

Providing Pair Coaches education as well as financial support to Pair Skaters in financial need. Covering their costs associated with training and competing, including such areas as ice time, coaching and choreography, to assist in preparing them to “Chase Their Dream” as a competitive team using the concepts and techniques developed by World and Olympic coach Ron Ludington.

Hosted by Olympic Silver Medalist, Kitty & Peter Carruthers and attended by legendary coaches, John Nicks and Kerry Leitch, Judy Sladky, Ron Kauffman and about a dozen other Olympians.Performing in the Ice Show, 2022 Jr. Pairs Champions, Sonia Baram & Daniel Tioumentsev. Katie McBeath & Nate Bartholomay, Team USA and 5th US Championships.

A short write up in honor of Luddy, by Olympic Coach and dear friend, Kerry LeitchMay of 2020 we lost a legend in the sport of figure skating. Ron Ludington, Luddy as he was known throughout the world was not only an Olympic competitor himself but he trained athletes in 9 Olympic Games. He brought the attention of the world to the state of Delaware with his prestigious training centers in Wilmington and Newark.Skaters from all continents were influenced by his vast knowledge and his unbelievable ability to communicate with athletes of all ages. In his honor his friends and past students are hosting a celebration of his life on May 20th and 21st.
