We already know that Olympians are the world’s best of the best when showcasing their athleticism. Watching them show off their superhuman strength, perfect execution of form and their otherworldly endurance makes it’s easy to forget that most of them are still young adults.

When they’re not competing, the athletes at the Olympic Games in Tokyo have been keeping us entertained by other means via social media.

• Flirting

  Some Olympians have used their TikToks as a way to let the other Olympians know they have a crush on them, some more boldly than others. Rugby player Ilona Maher posted a video asking if the “tall foreign demigod athletes in the Olympic Village” are looking for a wife.

• Sex Life

  Many of us speculated that the cardboard beds provided for Olympic Village were made to avoid intimacy among athletes. Though the beds aren’t really made to be anti-sex, alcohol sales were banned and condom distribution was lessened — but that didn’t stop British diver Noah Williams from posting a video of himself and his teammate Tom Daley unboxing hundreds of condoms.

• Food in the Olympic Village

  What exactly do they feed the world’s best athletes? Kelsey Marie Robinson, a volleyball player for the United States, has been reviewing the food in the Olympic Village’s cafeteria. In one video, she pans over a spread of steak, salmon, salad, peaches, melons, fried calamari, seaweed rice balls, vegetable tempura and a chocolate mousse.

• Haircuts

  Japan fencer Kaito Streets gave an inside look on Olympic Village’s hair salon. The 27-year-old fencer wrote, “My barber is a 2x Haircut World Medalist.” Besides the hair salon, there’s also a nail salon, souvenir shop, massage center and florist.

• Q & A

  Many Olympic athletes posted videos on their commonly asked questions, like US Diver Tyler Downs, who’s video of shooting his shot with Simone Biles went viral. Questions like, “is it uncomfortable wearing a speedo?” and if he’s met the US gymnast since the posting of his video were answered.

• Freebies

  A major perk of being a world-class athlete in the Olympics means getting world-class free stuff! Pole vaulter Katie Nageotte showed off all her Team USA swag on TikTok. Clothing from Kim Kardashian’s line Skims, Nike shoes, Samsung phone and earbuds, Oakley sunglasses and a mountain of Nike clothes were all gifted to the athletes participating in the Games.

• Losing

  Losing sucks, but the Olympians who didn’t take home a medal for their country took home some laughs at least. Fencer Courtney Hurley from Team USA posted about her loss in the best way possible — by poking fun at herself using audio from The Devil Wears Prada.
