List of The Richest Person In Every State

The list of the richest person in every state in 2023 has been released by Forbes. Forbes is known for featuring articles on finance, industry, investing, and marketing topics.

Many of us know the few billionaires who live in the United States that are also celebrity icons. People like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett and more. But do you know who is the richest person in the state you live? The official Forbes list is below.

Of all 50 people on the list, the total of their combined wealth equals $1,474,400,000.00. You read that right. Just 50 people in America make up $1 trillion, 474 billion, 400 million dollars!

The youngest of the 50 richest people in every state, is 36 year old Lukas Walton, an heir to the Walmart franchise. The oldest is Annette Lerner at 93 years old.

Previously, I’ve covered who the richest people in Delaware are. You may be surprised who does and doesn’t make the list for Delaware.

  • Alabama - Jimmy Rane

    Jimmy Rane’s net worth is $1.2 billion. He has made his wealth from being founder and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving, which makes decks, fences and other treated lumber products.

  • Alaska - Jonathan Rubini and Leonard Hyde

    Jonathan Rubini and Leonard Hyde are worth $0.4 billion and have made their money from operating JL Properties, a massive commercial real estate developer in Anchorage, Alaska.

  • Arizona - Arturo Moreno

    Arturo Moreno is worth $4.8 billion from owning billboards and the Los Angeles Angels.

  • Arkansas - Jim Walton

    Jim Walton is worth $64.4 billion and has made his money from being an heir to the largest retailer, Walmart.

  • California - Larry Page

    Larry Page is worth $105 billion and has made his money from co founding Google.

  • Colorado - Philip Anschutz

    Philip Anschutz is the richest person in Colorado at $10.8 billion. He’s made his wealth from oil, railroads, telecom, real estate and entertainment. He is the majority owner of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, with a stake in the MLS’s Los Angeles Galaxy, plus he owns the Crypto.com Arena, where the Kings play.

  • Connecticut - Ray Dalio

    Ray Dalio is worth $19.1 billion and has made his wealth serving as co-chief investment officer of the world’s largest hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates.

  • Delaware - Elizabeth Snyder

    In Delaware, Elizabeth Snyder is the richest person in the state. She is worth $0.9 billion and made her money from owning Gore-Tex.

  • Florida - Ken Griffin

    Ken Griffin is the richest man in Florida and is known for being the hedge fund involved in the Gamestop stock saga. He is worth $32.7 billion.

  • Georgia - Dan Cathy, Bubba Cathy, Trudy Cathy White

    The trio is worth $11.0 billion for starting Chik-Fil-A.

  • Hawaii - Larry Ellison

    Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle, is worth $146.0 billion.

  • Idaho - Frank VanderSloot

    Idaho’s richest person in the state is Frank VanderSloot, worth $3.2 billion. Most known for wellness products and nutrition and being founder and former chief executive officer of Melaleuca.

  • Illinois - Lukas Walton

    Lukas Walton of Illinois, is worth $22.9 billion and an heir to Walmart.

  • Indiana - Carl Cook

    Carl Cook is worth $10.3 billion and is CEO of the Cook Group, a medical device company that was co-founded by his parents.

  • Iowa - Harry Stine

    Harry Stine is the richest person in Iowa. He is worth $6.9 billion and founder and owner of Stine Seed.

  • Kansas - Charles Koch

    Charles Koch is worth $56.9 billion for being founder of Koch Industries.

  • Kentucky - Tamara Gustavson

    Tamara is the richest person in Kentucky and is worth $7.3 billion. She is the daughter of Public Storage co-founder and chairman B. Wayne Hughes. Gustavson is Public Storage’s largest shareholder, owning 11% of the company.

  • Louisiana - Gayle Benson

    Gayle Benson is the owner of the New Orleans Saints football team and the richest person in Louisiana. She is worth $4.7 billion.

  • Maine - Susan Alfond

    Susan Alfond is worth $2.7 billion. She is daughter of her father who created Dexter Shoes.

  • Maryland - Annette Lerner and family

    Annette Lerner is the richest person in Maryland, at $6.3 billion for owning a real estate company.

  • Massachusetts - Abigail Johnson

    Abigail Johnson is worth $21.0 billion for being chairman and CEO of Fidelity Investments.

  • Michigan - Daniel Gilbert

    Daniel Gilbert of Michigan is worth $19.5 billion. He is the co-founder and majority owner of Rocket Mortgage, founder of Rock Ventures, and owner of the National Basketball Association’s Cleveland Cavaliers.

  • Minnesota - Glen Taylor

    Glen Taylor is worth $2.6 billion. Taylor made his fortune from being the founder and owner of Minnesota-based Taylor Corporation, one of the largest graphic communication companies in the United States.

  • Mississippi - James and Thomas Duff

    James and Thomas Duff of Mississippi are worth $2.3 billion for tires. They also co-founded and co-own Duff Capital Investors, a holding company.

  • Missouri - John Morris

    John Morris is the richest person in Missouri and is worth $8.3 billion. He is majority owner, and CEO of Bass Pro Shops, a hunting and fishing retail chain in the US and Canada.

  • Montana - Dennis Washington

    Dennis Washington is worth $6.4 billion. He owns, or co-owns controlling interests in, a large consortium of privately held companies collectively known as the Washington Companies and, in Canada, another collection of companies known as the Seaspan Marine Corporation.

  • Nebraska - Warren Buffett

    Warren Buffett is a well known investor, worth $117 billion.

  • Nevada - Miriam Adelson & family

    Miriam Adelson is worth $36.2 billion. She is the widow of the former CEO and chairman of casino company Las Vegas Sands.

  • New Hampshire - Rick Cohen

    Rick Cohen is worth $18.8 billion. He is owner of C&S Wholesale Grocers, a wholesale grocery supply company in the United States.

  • New Jersey - Rocco Commisso

    Rocco is the richest person in New Jersey, worth $8.0 billion for founding Telecom.

  • New Mexico - Ron Corio

    Ron Corio is worth $1.7 billion for implementing solar, founding Array Technologies Inc.

  • New York - Michael Bloomberg

    Michael Bloomberg, CEO of Bloomberg LP and Mayor of New York City is worth $94.5 billion.

  • North Carolina - James Goodnight

    James Goodnight, of North Carolina, is worth $9.3 billion for Software Development. He has been the CEO of SAS Institute since 1976, which he co-founded.

  • North Dakota - Gary Tharaldson

    Tharaldson is worth $1.2 billion. He is an American entrepreneur and founder of the Tharaldson Companies.

  • Ohio - Les Wexner and family

    Les Wexner is the founder of Bath and Body Works. He is worth $6.0 billion.

  • Oklahoma - Harold Hamm

    Oklahoma’s Harold Hamm, is worth $18.5 billion for working in the gas industry. He is known for extracting shale oil resources.

  • Oregon - Phil Knight

    Phil Knight is the richest person in Oregon. He is worth $41.8 billion and is founder of Nike.

  • Pennsylvania - Jeff Yass

  • Rhode Island - Jonathan Nelson

    Jonathan Nelson is worth $3.1 billion. He is the founder of Providence Equity Partners, a global private equity firm based in Providence, Rhode Island.

  • South Carolina - Robert Faith

    Robert Faith is worth $5.2 billion. He is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Greystar Real Estate Partners.

  • South Dakota - T. Denny Sanford

    Sanford is worth $2.0 billion for being founder of First Premier Bank and the chairman and chief executive officer of its holding company, United National.

  • Tennessee - Thomas Frist Jr.

    Working in the hospital industry, Thomast Frist Jr. is the richest man in Tennessee. He is worth $22.3 billion.

  • Texas - Elon Musk

    Elon Musk, owner of Tesla, is worth $230.0 billion.

  • Utah - Gail Miller

  • Vermont - John Abele

    John Abele is the richest person in Vermont, worth $1.9 billion. He is the co-founder and a director of Boston Scientific, a medical device company.

  • Virginia - Jacqueline Mars

    Jacqueline Mars is worth $39.4 billion for co founding Mars Candy Company.

  • Washington - Jeff Bezos

  • West Virginia - Brad Smith
