It’s all happening so fast, but its all so expensive. So here is how to attend the Big Game for cheap.

Philadelphia will take on Kansas City in the grand daddy of them all on Sunday from Arizona. Kick-off is 6:30pm and you can catch the game on FOX.

With ticket prices exceeding $5,000 and flights surging by 169% there has to be a way to get into and to the game while saving money right?!

The folks over at Going.com provided tips on how to save some cash while rooting on the Birds to their second championship in 5 years.

It’s all happening so fast, but its all so expensive. So here is how to attend the Big Game for cheap:

  • How to Save on Flights

First search multiples airports in the area. You can fly out of Philly, Baltimore, Allentown, or even Newark. Granted you may need to take a connecting flight.
    Going.com provided the following tips:

    (1) Airports: If fares to PHX are high, see if it’s substantially cheaper to fly to Tucson (1h45m to Phoenix) or even Las Vegas (4h45m to Phoenix), especially if you were planning to rent a car anyway.

    (2) Dates: See if extending the travel dates by a day or two leads to cheaper fares. Mondays are usually one of the most expensive days for travel, but Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually the cheapest, often 40% off. Make a vacation out of it

    (3) Airlines: Be sure to search Southwest separately—they’re the largest domestic airline but their fares don’t show up on any flight search engines like Kayak or Expedia.

    (4) Payment method: If cash flights are expensive, see if there are award flights using your frequent flyer miles.

  • Saving Some Cash on Hotels

Hotels are becoming more and more expensive by the day in Arizona for the big game. Going.com suggests you take advantage of free cancellations on hotels. Keep hunting for a great price and cancel any prior reservations you may have. You can also just hit up that old college roommate and ask them for a place to crash. They owe you for that one time right?

Hotwire is also a suggestion. You can save 30% on hotel prices…you just won’t know what hotel until after you book.

  • Rental Cars

If you have the PTO available a nice road trip to Arizona could be in order. Rent a car so you don’t destroy you car with all those miles. You can also sleep in the car on the trip! You may just need to leave Monday to make the Big Game.

Going.com says “While flight prices are virtually the same regardless of where you search, there is (from what I’ve found) a consistently cheapest place to book rental cars: Costco Travel. It’s included in your Costco membership, includes a free second driver, and has rates that are usually 25% lower than you’ll see elsewhere.”
