Demi Lovato just released their new single, “Skin of My Teeth,” which sees the Grammy-nominated singer embracing their pop-rock sound they first emerged onto the music scene with and opening up about their struggle with addiction.

The guitar-heavy track showcases Lovato’s powerhouse vocals with lyrics, “I’m just tryin’ to keep my head above water / I’m your son and I’m your daughter / I’m your mother I’m your father / I’m just a product of the problem.”

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last night, Lovato admitted they were nervous to perform the new single, adding, “If you’re not nervous before you do something, you’re not passionate about it. It’s a part of living to be nervous about something you care about.”

The album marks the first release since last year's Dancing With The Devil, and Lovato says it’s been their most fulfilling album experience yet. “The process of making this album has been the most fulfilling yet and I’m grateful to my fans and collaborators for being on this journey with me. Never have I been more sure of myself and my music and this record speaks that for itself,” Lovato said in a statement. “To my Lovatics who have been rocking out with me since the beginning and those who are just now coming along for the ride, thank you. This record is for you.”
